2025 WAPA Paving Award Winners Honored
The 2025 Paving Award winners were celebrated at WAPA’s 71st Annual Meeting on November 14, 2025. A wide range of the “Best of the Best” awards were presented to Washington state’s premier asphalt paving companies alongside the private sector and public owners of the projects.
The public works paving awards were graciously presented by Doug McCormick, P.E., the Immediate Past President of the Washington State Association of County Engineers (WSACE), Jim Rioux, 2026 President of the American Public Works Association of Washington (APWA-WA) and Julie Meredith, P.E., our state’s Secretary of Transportation. Jaime Lee of Lakeside Industries, WAPA’s 2024/2025 President, led the awards ceremony and presented the awards for Commercial, Innovative and Heavy Industrial paving.
This year’s Carl Minor Award (the highest rated public works paving project of the year) was awarded to WSDOT Contract – XE3535– SR 20 – South Fork Mill Creek Road to Tiger – Paving. Pete Corley, P.E. and Kris Becker, P.E. led WSDOT’s Eastern Region project management team and Central Washington Asphalt was the General Contractor. This project resurfaced 22.5 lane miles of deteriorating chip sealed and old, failing pavement on SR 20. A total of 26,369 tons of Class 3/8″ PG 64H-28 hot mix asphalt was utilized to smoothly pave this project.
