Pavement Research Centers and Programs
- Washington
Center for Asphalt Technology (WCAT). Research facility
at Washington State University in Pullman. Participates in undergraduate
and graduate student training in asphalt technology,
technical personnel training, asphalt technology research
and extension/testing services.
- National
Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT)
NCAT was established at Auburn University in 1986 with an endowment set up by
the NAPA Research and Education Foundation. Its mission is to improve HMA performance
through research, education, and information services.
- Long
Term Pavement Performance (LTPP)
A comprehensive 20-year study of in-service pavements
across the U.S. and Canada begun in 1987. LTPP was established
as part of the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP)
and is now managed by the Federal Highway Administration
(FHWA).
